What webpage are you trying? I'd expect some to be possible with 1GB and some not.Tried installing epiphany which is billed as a "light-weight" browser and have exactly the same issue with freezing - the RPi freezes as soon as it starts to load a webpage. Are there any web browsers that will run on an RPi4 with 1 Gb memory?
To check if what you are trying should be possible, we need to know exactly what you are doing.
e.g. A report like: on a clean install of RPi-OS bookworm on a 1GB Pi4, after a reboot, I opened chromium, with a single tab open, I navigated to bbc.co.uk and the web page did not render leaving a white window, the mouse became unresponsive and I was force to reboot.
(I'd actually expect bbc.co.uk to work on 1GB as it's a reasonably lightweight web site - but it's important to know exactly what you are testing, so we can confirm if it works for others).
