I tried zerotier and had issues getting it working, definitely didnt get far in 10 minutes. After 20-30 mins it seemed like I was close, had the network ID assignment and all. Spent some more time watching a few tutorials on this, and it just got more and more confusing for a guy who doesn't know much about networking.
I also tried the PI connect and didnt like the GUI interaction at all, maybe on a PC would be okay (didnt try), but on an android phone, RealVNC is much more useful. It was quite easy to get setup and running though, which was nice!
I think using the RealVNC cloud service may be the way to go. I didn't realize that there was a free lite version, and I'm trying to do this without any subscriptions.
