I am familiar with that setting because I tried to use it to try to get RealVNC server on bookworm with ubuntu remmina, since I am used to them. Wasted a bit of time in the struggle, finally gave up and installed TigerVNC on Ubuntu to talk to the Wayland VNC server on the Pi.

But, it is an interesting experiment!

Since I am creating my new Bullseye on a different usb-ssd, I changed to X11 from Wayland on the Bookworm installation that is causing my screen freeze problem.

After changing to X11, that same hardware ran for over 15 hours with no screen freeze! Never saw it run that long without the freeze issue before.

So, from this experiment, it does look like my display problem is wayland and not bookworm related, in case anyone who understands these bugs actually read this.

I am still left with the VNC problem on Bookworm/X11. Can't seem to connect on either Remmina or Tigervnc since bookworm/x11 doesn't seem to integrate a vnc server when changing the raspi-config vnc setting. Aaarrrghhh!

The vnc is just for my bringup and test convenience, won't be used in the water pump shack, just the display is used.

So, a philosophical question is:
Which OS version would be better for non-networked, never updated, just works forever as a snapshot, OS:
last version of Bullseye or latest version of Bookworm/X11?
