Troubleshooting • Re: Unusable WiFi on RPI5 with active Cooler

After weeks of grief and one unit exchange from the reseller, I have concluded the Pi 5 Wifi implementation is fatally broken. Without HDMI connected it will mostly connect on 2.4 Ghz. but exhibits widely varying latency and occasional packet loss. With HDMI connected (I've tried three cables including some with ferrite cores on them) it's utterly inoperative. 5 Ghz. never connects at all under any circumstances (with or without HDMI).

I. Have. Tried. Everything. There are two Pi Zero W's and a Pi 3 happily communicating with the same access point from the same location. None of them show this problem.

Having given up on the internal Wifi I've ordered a USB adapter and will hope that actually operates as claimed.

I'm willing to keep an open mind and will gladly try any and all suggestions, but to this point I'm convinced it's a design flaw.
