What I find amazing about Fido's pirate chart is how current ARM-based single-board computers have reached the speed of the AMD Phenom II X4 from 2009 at nowhere near the price or power consumption. I also find it interesting how fast a Pentium III seemed in 1999 while today it is in the same boat as the Pi Zero when trying to run a modern desktop. Today manufacturers are hoping AI will motivate yet another upgrade cycle. What happened? That's really disappointing, you can get an N100 for a bit around £100 from AliExpress all in ready to go and it's only a fraction slower than my main mid-high end PC at the time, on the cusp of the DDR3 to DDR4, the i5-4460 on there.
I still does everything really well, yeah not quite as snappy as my some Ryzen 7600 with DDR5 and faster NVMe drive but hey..
The N100 look quite mighty for the price.
