Is your shared folder writeable? You can check the samba configuration, here is how to do it:

Unless I missed it, it doesn't mention 'testparm' anywhere on the linked page and that is how you check the Samba configuration file 'smb.conf'.

Just run:
on the Samba machine and it will display the effective smb.conf in use, along with anything not understood.
