If flashing an SD card in 3 clicks with the guarantee that it works at once is a PITA to you, then I wonder what you'd say if you had to struggle for hours to get it to work !It will be a PITA but honestly IMO it's the best option.
Furthermore, it seems to me that the architectural changes during the switch to Bookworm mean it can't work (especially with the boot partition). This needs to be confirmed by specialists but I seem to have read it many times...
