Troubleshooting • Re: Pi5 power supply use without usbc

Hi all.

Bought a second 27watt pi 5 power supply to power a project and hoped I could lop the usbc plug off and access 5v.

Turns out that just doesn't work.

So what is needed to turn on 5v 5a output in my case? I have some Arduino nano's sitting around so if there was some information on the handshake needed, perhaps I could make this work Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
:-)

If it was easier to access 5v for more universal use, wow, what a fantastic unit this would be.

Although you don't want to use it with an RPi[5] board, the supporting documentation might shed some light on your issue?

The USB-PD standard allows higher voltages and currents to be negotiated via software but requires an appropriate Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) which is only present on Raspberry Pi 5. These supplies require that you use suitable USB-PD compatible cables.
It’s not possible to use older USB "dumb" cables and connectors to provide more than 15W, even with a USB-PD capable supply.
