Graphics, sound and multimedia • "Could not reserve audio samples" error with V2 Fruitbox

I am trying V2 of Fruitbox having had fun with the first version but I have run into a technical issue that I am unable to get past.

My hardware works with V1 Fruitbox so I know the hardware to be OK

My set up is Pi3 B+ with pi-daq+. I have fresh installed the recommended 2022-01-28-raspios-buster-armhf-lite OS and have installed Fruitbox and made all the recommended changes to Memory etc,

I played around with various audio options and I can get Frutibox to boot fully with the standard audio but obviously get no sound as the Pi-daq+ is listed as Card2 when I interogate using aplay -l. I have tried to play with asound.conf to set card 2 to default but that did not yield useable results. Have deleted that change.

I have the audio working using speaker-test but fruitbox wont boot up completely stating "Could not reserve audio samples"

Having asked Doctor Google, I have only been able to find one other person asking the same question on hifiberry website and the advise from them was to ask the software developer.

Anyone able to shed any light on what I have done wrong?
