You seem to have multiple issues here
- old version of the Raspberry Pi Imager
- no HPD signal and no EDID provided
- issues with your USB on custom board
- have you tried flashing it on an official baseboard

I updated the Raspberry Pi Imager to a newer version (1.9.6). Can I use the Compute Module 5 IO Board to flash the image onto my CM4? I won’t connect anything like CSI or DSI.
There's only the CM5 development kit here.

yes, that will work. make Sure your host is able to provide enough current on USB.

I tested using the CM5 IO Board with the CM4 module, now I have another error ("Error writing to storage").
And the same "No space left on device" while writing len: 1048576
