The reason is probably somewhat historical, my only experience is in regards to aircraft telemetry. If a long series of 1s (or 0s) are sent consecutively, the decom equipment can lose lock on the signal without a constantly toggling clock to maintain sync. Randomization works to improve this effect, but for my purposes I need to retain an active clock signal.
If I2S can't do this reliably, I may need to go back to modifying the PIO clock speed. Is this actually possible? I really only need the SD card and UART to work. Is it possible to modify the PLL_SYS?
