Can you not take the D-/D+ signals via a voltage convertor to GPIO pins, then run a PIO program to detect changes and pass those on, then have some Finite State Machine work out what they are and create a list of those, have something else which looks for specific sequences ?
Whether you will be able to get a Pico to recognise specific music from such sequences I don't know. It seems you would need to have a lot of data to do that and the Pico-range is quite constrained.
