I have seen this exact same problem with ESP32 boards on different breadboards. I've never got to the bottom of it.
To be clear, there is nothing else plugged into the breadboard other than - for example - a firebeetle or Heltec board. And it's powered from a raspberry pi 4 or 5 usb port with a full featured decent quality usb cable.
I've always soldered the headers on myself but my soldering skills are excellent.
You could try moving it further away from the router...
