Macs use SMB as well. Not a Mac expert so can't say exactly how you'd connect to a server from one. Thanks, that works perfectly Image may be NSFW.I suspect your path= is wrong. As is, it will only work if /<server name>/shared is literally the directory you want to share.
Clik here to view.
Got it. So if I had more users (hard for me to do that since my family are mostly Apple oriented and I'm not) or more shares, I just create more folders and sections like that in smb.conf?Windows clients use \\servername\sharename. While the server name has to match the name of the server* the share name does not have to match any directory or file that exists on the server.
You don't need a one to one link between users and shares. You can do that if you want to though. You'll probably need to tweak valid users on a share if you want multiple users to be able to access it.
You could always use the [homes] share for per user storage though you might want to move their home directories to your USB storage (if using any).
Access from clients is by \\server\username. By default it's not browseable so won't show up in explorer or finder.
