Graphics, sound and multimedia • Re: iMac as display for RPI5

Thanks inspector_gadget for the hint with CMD+F2, I'm using Sierra and there are some differences, but it may work with your suggestion.
Now to your problem:
Check on your Raspi5 the file ~/.config/wayfire.ini the following entry and change it to

[output: HDMI-A-1]
mode = default

and leave the rest intact, which is controlled by the desktop screen utility. If your connection to the iMac is HDMI 2 use
[output: HDMI-A-2] instead.

The reason is: the screen utility sets something like "mode = 1920x1080@xxxxxx" and in that case the iMac gives no
response and even does not turn black.

Unfortunately, if you run the desktop screen utility on bookworm after a successful connection with the iMac, it will change
the entry "mode = default" to something like "mode = 2560x1440@59951" that might rise problems if you change to another
screen (or mix up HMDI1 with HDMI2).

The basic problem ist the unfriendliness between Apple and Raspberry Pi and linux bookworm.

By the way: your iMac 2009 accepts High Sierra? Mine is iMac 2010 and I didn't manage to install High Sierra. What was the trick?

Good luck.
