I was following "Getting started with Raspberry Pi Pico" build-date: 2024-05-02, build-version: 576cee3-clean, but on rereading I may have duplicated some actions so I scrapped entire OS image and reinstalled (with 64 bit rather than the 32 bit version that came on the SD card from the vendor), I got further into the the VScode section (7.4) and have now just built the PICO-EXAMPLES, but only at the second attempt.
First time I had error messages that said I needed to delete CMakeCache.txt as it contained: CMAKE_GENERATOR:INTERNAL=Unix Makefiles and to delete the CMakefiles folder.
I did that for
pico-examples/build/
pico-examples/build/elf2uf2/
Having done that, build all worked, not sure there are other places I will need to do the same thing. I include this info in case someone else has the same issue.
Let's see if I can get any further and write some code for the darn thing...
