Thanks, you nailed it, it is that jaycar unit and those are the instructions im following.
It's strange, when I run gpionext 2 buttons do not work....almost like they arent plugged in but they are. The up direction works.
When I configure in retropie then the same 2 buttons don't work as well as the up direction.
I think a software issue but not sure where to look.
I'm starting to worry if an issue with the pi4 gpio ports.
