The SSDs in the recommended list have been tested and found to work with the currently available controller/firmware. If there is an unannounced revision which affects compatibility then the recommended list will obviously need to change.so you think that these drives have a fixed BOM? What happens when the next batch of 'recommended' drives will be produced with the 'bad controller' firmware on the BOM?
It is great that you've gotten WD SSDs to work in your setup but other testing has shown them to be problematic. Therefore the safest recommendation is to avoid WD. There are plenty of other NVMe SSDs out there.
