If the RAM was corrupt, X Windows wouldn’t run either, 4 gig RAM on both Pi400 & Pi 4b, HDMI on new monitors, the power supplies that come with thosePi’s, no peripherals. I don’t follow why very few people are having trouble with Wayland/Wayfire, I have very vanilla flavored installs, that run the usual app’s flawlessly under X.Seems unusual as you can see many have no problem.
You may have hardware problem.
- Also you don't say how much RAM you have. Under 2GB Bookworm should default to Win X / X11
- Still if you have more then the RAM could be corrupt, so you could check that.
- Also what screen are you using and is it from the or one of the mini HDMI or from the Video via the Jack, or a USB 3 port?
- What power supply do you have to ensure it is getting enough power a Wayland may well use more.
- Do you have any other demands or peripherals attached.?
- Still you say it is the same on a 400 and a 4 ???
- And where are you, maybe someone local can have a look?
